Does an Apostille cover the translation as well?
Short answer
Not automatically. An Apostille certifies the signature, capacity and seal on the document it is attached to. Whether the translation itself must be certified, notarised or apostilled separately is decided by the receiving authority.
Ask three specific questions before starting: does the Apostille go on the original, on the translation, or on both; who may certify the translation; and does the receiving office require the translation to be produced in its own country.
The answers change the order of operations, and the order cannot be corrected retroactively.
