In short
Medical records, clinical documentation, device manuals, safety data sheets and engineering specifications carry consequences when a term drifts. These projects use subject-matter translators, a controlled glossary, and a separate revision step by a second linguist.
Regulatory context often dictates terminology. Where a document supports a submission to a regulator, an insurer or a certification body, the vocabulary of that body's own published materials takes precedence over general usage.
Units, dosages, tolerances and safety statements are checked numerically as a distinct QA pass, because a correct sentence with a transposed figure is more dangerous than an awkward one.

Do not send machine output for 'light editing' on safety-critical text — it hides errors that a full translation would surface.
