Document preparation for spouse and family visa applications
In short
Family-based visa applications turn on proving the relationship and the sponsor's position. Thai civil documents — marriage certificate, birth certificate, household registration, divorce certificate — are issued in Thai and normally need certified translation plus an Apostille or legalisation for the destination.
Build the relationship evidence chronologically rather than by category. A timeline that runs from first contact through visits, cohabitation and shared commitments is easier for a caseworker to accept than a folder of undated screenshots.
Every destination has its own list, its own translation rules and its own view on document age. Get the current checklist from the mission or immigration authority and prepare against that list, not against a general template.
What we need from you
- Thai civil documents in recent certified copies
- Sponsor's status, income and accommodation evidence
- Relationship evidence covering the whole period
- The destination's current document checklist
Watch out
Documents have a shelf life. Many missions refuse civil documents issued more than a few months before submission.
