What happens if I miss a 90-day report?
Short answer
A late report is subject to a fine set by the Immigration Bureau, and the report still has to be made. Because amounts and handling vary by office, confirm the current position with the immigration office responsible for your address.
Report as soon as you notice. Delay does not reduce the exposure and repeated lapses attract more attention at extension time.
Keep the receipt slips. They are the only convenient evidence that earlier reports were made on time.
