Residence certificates for foreign nationals
In short
A residence certificate confirms a foreign national's address in Thailand and is commonly required for a driving licence, a vehicle purchase, a bank formality or a marriage registration. It is issued by the Immigration Bureau, and some embassies issue their own equivalent letter.
The immigration route generally requires the passport, the TM.30 record for the address, and supporting documents such as the lease. Processing time varies by office and some issue on the same day while others take several working days.
Certificates are typically issued for a specific purpose and have a limited validity, so request the number of copies you need for the purposes you actually have rather than a single one.

Watch out
Certificates issued for one purpose are sometimes refused for another — state the purpose when you apply.
