School enrolment and academic credential recognition

In short

Enrolling a child in a Thai or international school usually requires the birth certificate, previous school records and the passport, with certified translations where the documents are not in Thai or English. Recognition of foreign qualifications for university entry or professional purposes is handled by the responsible Thai authority.

Foreign transcripts and diplomas often need an Apostille or legalisation from the issuing country before a Thai institution will act on them, and the requirement is set by the receiving school or university rather than by a single national rule.

Start the document chain a full term before the intended enrolment date. Schools set their own deadlines and a document waiting for legalisation abroad cannot be accelerated locally.

What we need from you

Watch out

Ask whether the school requires the Apostille on the original transcript or on a certified copy — the two are not interchangeable.
