How do I specify a Chinese, Spanish or Arabic assignment correctly?
Short answer
Give the variety, not just the language: Mandarin or Cantonese; Castilian or Latin American Spanish; Modern Standard Arabic or a named regional variety. The variety determines who can be assigned and how the terminology is prepared.
For written deliverables the equivalent question is the script — Simplified or Traditional Chinese — and the receiving authority decides that, not the client's preference.
