Can the interpreter sign or certify documents at the appointment?
Short answer
An interpreter can sign a register or a form as the interpreter who rendered the declarations, where the receiving office asks for that. That signature is a statement about the oral rendition — it is not a certification of a written translation and it is not a notarial act.
If the office also needs a written certified translation, that is a separate deliverable prepared before the appointment, with its own certification statement and translator details.
Where a notarial signature or an attestation by a notarial services attorney is required, that is a further separate step handled by the qualified officer, not by the interpreter.
