Simultaneous interpreting suits agendas that cannot absorb pauses: conferences, shareholder meetings, training programmes and press events. It normally needs two interpreters per language pair rotating on a fixed cycle, plus a booth or a portable tour-guide system for the audience feed.
Sustained simultaneous work degrades measurably after roughly 30 minutes of continuous output, which is why the two-interpreter team is standard rather than a luxury. For a half-day programme with one language pair, plan the rotation into the run sheet and give the pair a quiet position with a clear line of sight to the screen.
Technical setup decides audio quality more than interpreter skill does. Confirm early whether the venue supplies a booth, receivers and a technician, or whether a portable system has to be brought in, and make sure the presenters' slides and speaker notes reach the team before the rehearsal.
