Confidentiality and data protection in interpreting assignments

Case files, medical records and commercial terms handled during an assignment are personal or confidential data. Processing is governed by the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019). IVC works to a written confidentiality undertaking, limits distribution of briefing files to the assigned interpreter, and deletes working copies on request after the assignment.
A practical confidentiality plan has three parts: who receives the briefing pack, how it is transmitted, and what happens to it afterwards. Naming those three things in the engagement email is usually enough to satisfy an in-house counsel review and takes minutes rather than days.
Where the material includes health data, criminal records or other sensitive categories, tighter handling applies. Tell us at the scoping stage so the file transfer method and the retention period are set correctly from the start rather than corrected later.

Watch out
Sending case files through an unsecured consumer chat group is the most common weak point — agree the channel before the first file moves.
