Work permits for employees of a Thai company
In short
Foreign nationals working in Thailand need authorisation to work under the Royal Decree on Managing the Work of Aliens; the employer, the position and the workplace are all recorded. The immigration status (visa category) and the work authorisation are separate approvals that must line up.
The employing entity carries most of the evidential burden: registration documents, financial statements, tax filings, employee ratios and the job description. Preparing that pack once and keeping it current makes each subsequent hire dramatically faster.
Changes matter. A new position, a new workplace address or a change of employer generally requires the work authorisation to be amended rather than assumed to carry over.
What we need from you
- Company registration documents and latest financial statements
- Position description, qualifications and employment contract
- Employee's passport and current visa status
- Workplace address as it will appear on the permit
Watch out
Starting work before the authorisation is issued is a breach with consequences for both the employee and the company.
